Accommodations
Hotel Caravelle
sits quietly on the waters edge in historic Christiansted. This charming European-style Hotel blends old world charm with
modern amenities. All rooms offer private baths, air conditioning, cable TV, direct dial telephones, refrigerator, irons and
boards, free WiFi and AM/FM radio for your convenience and comfort.
Diving
We’ll be diving with St. Croix Ultimate Bluewater Adventures. Visit their booth at the Texas Dive
Show!
The diving off St. Croix includes shallow reefs and steep drop-offs that lead divers to the wall. Two of the best dives
are located between Cane Bay and Christiansted at the mouth of Salt River Bay. Salt River East and Salt River West are
separated by a steep chasm. Salt River East drops vertically, and you'll find colonies of yellow tube sponges and schools
of blackbar soldierfish. Separated by several hundred yards and a deep submarine canyon, lies Salt River West. This dive
begins in 20 feet of water and abruptly drops to 90, where it continues sloping away gradually to the abyss.
Descend into a whimsical world where what looks like rocks are really living creatures, where schools of fish come
dressed in rainbow-colored uniforms and where beautiful flowers play hide and seek with other sea life. Photographers will
be very pleased with diving in St. Croix. Visibiity ranges between 60 and 100 feet. There is very little change in the water
temperature during the year, the average water temperature being between 78F - 85F. The majority of the year the temperature
stays in the 80’s.
Activities
We are fortunate to be on the island during the St. Croix IronMan Traithlon will be racing on May 2nd.
Big street party on Friday, April 30th. The party is called a “Jump-Up” and the streets in Christiansted are
closed off, the stores all stay open late, bands playing on every corner, street vendors, mocko jumbies (stilt dancers)
and more will be happening in St. Croix!
