Meeting topic: 2009 Trip Planning

Are you planning your 2009 dive trips? Half the fun of going on trips is looking forward to the destination. We do a lot of research, prepare our gear and make the final preparations. Do you have a trip you want to share with our group? We want YOU! We're looking for individuals wanting to lead a trip for FINZ. Your favorite spot may be a FINZ-Sponsored trip for 2009!

In general, we try to have four trips scheduled for the calendar year. The FINZ Dallas Dive Group Board tries to schedule trips based on the following:

• One major week–long trip. This trip usually runs around $1,000 or more.
• One small inexpensive trip (about 3 – 4 days). Trip costs less than $1,000.
• One trip to Cozumel or equivalent trip package.
• One optional trip depending on availability and cost as voted on by the membership.

Here are some guidelines for introducing your trip to the group:

• Contact Sharon for a presentation spot.
• Plan your presentation for about 5 – 10 minutes.
• Bring supporting materials (i.e., handouts, presentation, etc.)
• You do not have to have the trip planned 100%. If you've been to the desired destination, all the better. Knowledge is great! You can approximate the trip cost, but please have a general idea of price range. Dates will most likely be voted on when we are finalizing our calendar year.
• Presentation spots open to members in good standing.
• Your trip cannot be a profit-making venture for you. Everyone pays and receives the same costs and discounts.
• Free spots and commissions offered to the group will be dispersed among the final paid group going on the trip*.

*Note: Discounts and free spots are not applied to non-divers on the trip. This is due to the pricing structure which is usually planned for divers attending the trip.

General Information

Monthly meetings are held where we discuss upcoming activities and club business. A guest speaker or program is normally scheduled for each meeting, on a subject of interest to scuba divers. Subject may include dive specialties, sea life, slide shows, videos, first aid and many others. Part of the membership dues go to buying dinner for our guest speaker and room fees.

Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month with the exception of November. Our November meeting is moved up one week if the meeting date is the same week as the Thanksgiving holiday.

Come out and meet the friendliest divers in town! We also have great raffle prizes and loads of fun!
